28 percent increase on public transport fares

The government has increased fares on public transport by 28 percent across the country. The fare for long distance has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 500.

Advance ticket booking is open from today (Monday) for those leaving Kathmandu Valley during Dashain and Tihar. A meeting of the Department of Transport Management, transport businessmen, consumer rights activists and the traffic police on Thursday had decided to open advance ticket booking for long-distance vehicles from September 27.
