Hari Budha Magar, who recently managed to skydive on Mt. Everest without both legs, has informed that he is preparing to climb Mt. Everest. He told Nepalnews that being the first person without both legs to go skydiving in the Everest region was a great opportunity as well as a challenge for him.

Hari Budha Magar lost both his legs in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving in the British Gurkha Army. After that, Budha Magar lived a fairly unhappy life, stricken by the grief of losing his legs. He has recently been getting involved in adventure to commence a new phase of his life.

He said that he skydived to prepare for the goal of climbing Mt. Everest next year with the help of prosthetic legs. Although it was not easy to jump from a helicopter in the mountainous region, he was thrilled to see Mt. Everest. He has also climbed various mountains in Nepal and other countries. In the soon future, he is going to climb the Moroccan mountains. After that, his goal is to climb Himlung Mountain coming autumn.

After losing both his legs in a foreign land, his dream of climbing Mt. Everest was shattered due to government regulations. After years of planning, his preparations for his Everest expedition began only after the Nepalese government allowed people with disabilities to climb the mountain.

Born in Rolpa, Budha Magar has also been contributing to various social services in Nepal. He has helped people with disabilities by providing them with wheelchairs. He has invested in Nepal through the Gorkha Group. The group is currently involved in areas such as education and health.

His goal is to raise public awareness about disability in the national and international arena. He also believes that economic prosperity is needed to create a situation where Nepali youth do not have to go abroad. Staying true to this belief, he has also invested in agriculture.
