After completing a 14-day cycling trip to Baglung's Dhorpatan valley from Pokhara last year Diwas Gurung of Kaski has completed a 35-day Guerrilla trek.

A resident of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 of Kaski, 28-year-old Diwas Gurung has been promoting tourism through cycling and hiking.

The Guerrilla trek which started from Burtiwang, the center of Dhorpatan Municipality of Baglung on July 23 was completed in 35 days. Starting from Dhorpatan he reached Rolpa in 35 days via East Rukum.

The trekking route is named Guerrilla Trail as it was used during the 10-year-long armed conflict that ended in 2006. In 2015, the route was named Guerrilla trail at the initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board and District Coordination Committees of Rolpa, Rukum, and other districts.

Gurung said that even after eight years of naming the Guerrilla Trail it could not come into the limelight, as the tourists who came to the Dhorpatan hunting reserve were not attracted to it. Promotion of the Guerrilla Trail could also help to extend the stay of tourists who come to the hunting reserve.

He said that for the promotion and development of the Guerrilla trekking route it is necessary to upgrade the route with information boards, markings, and proper food and accommodation facilities.
