Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has lauded the vital contribution Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) to the development and promotion of the country's mountaineering tourism.

At a program organised on the 42nd World tourism Day, the PM praised the activities of NMA including training on mountaineering, garbage collection, search and rescue, treatment of the injured ones, and others.

Furthermore, PM Deuba thanked the NMA for its cooperation with the government to carry out the publicity campaigns for mountain tourism at the national and international levels.

Deuba said that the government has forwarded plans to revive the tourism industry hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The government has eased health protocol to the tourists entering Nepal to revive the tourism sector, he added.

On this occasion, PM Deuba inaugurated the newly-constructed building of NMA. The six-and-a-half-storied building was built with an investment of Rs 82.5 million, the NMA said.

PM Deuba also marked the beginning of a new website of the NMA that profiles 467 peaks of the country. The profile is expected to make a notable contribution to the country's mountaineering tourism development.
