Rafting has been deemed feasible on the Sanibheri River in Rukum East. A technical team from the Ministry of Tourism, Rural and Urban Development of Lumbini Province recently conducted a successful test for rafting in the river.

Ministry technician Bibek Shah said it will be possible to sail on the Sanibheri river, as a test was carried out successfully for this. This is the best test done in different rivers of the province this year.

The team had conducted a rafting test from Saurikhola of Bhume Rural Municipality-5 to Baluwa, Dhaune of Sisne-6, and Nathigad of Sath-7 to Sisneri Rural Municipality. Sisne chairperson Kumari Baral, village engineer Karna KC, administration chief Arun Kumar Oli, hotel and tourism entrepreneur Sunil Roka, and others participated in the test voyage.

On the occasion, Baral said that it was important to pay attention to tourism for the further development of Sisne. The voyage was made in an area of about 13 kilometers of the Sanibheri river.

Earlier, a similar test was carried out in Madikhola of Rolpa, Mandbi river of Pyuthan, and Rapti river of Dang. Tests so far have shown that the river has good potential for rafting in terms of water levels, flow speed, and geography. Now it remains to be tested at Babai in Dang and Kaligandaki in Palpa.

The technical team will submit the test report to the ministry. The Ministry will select the best place after studying the reports of rivers across the province. The provincial government has planned to invest in the development of rafting and promotion of tourism in the potential areas.
