Regular flights resume at Suketar Airport in Taplejung

Nepal Airlines aircraft fails to land due to bad weather

Nepal Airlines Corporation has started regular flights to Suketar Airport in Taplejung district from today. The airport had closed operations for two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Though Nepal Airlines had operated a flight to the airport with nine passengers onboard the plane could not land at the Suketar Airport due to the inclement weather in the destination, said Lokendra Limbu, Station In-charge of the airport. He added that the aircraft tried to land at the airport for 12 minutes but could not do so it flew back to Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, there were 12 passengers waiting at the Suketar Airport to fly to Kathmandu. Limbu informed the passengers returned home after the Nepal Airlines aircraft could not land at the airport.

The Suketar Airport has mentioned that there are regular flights to the destination on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. At present the price of a ticket from Kathmandu to Suketar has been set at Rs 7,050 and a ticket from Suketar to Kathmandu has been priced at Rs 7,190.

Nepal Airlines has informed that it has also started the process to conduct flights between Suketar and Biratnagar, the capital of Province 1.
