The Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has welcomed the various decisions and consensus reached at the meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of Energy Secretaries of Nepal and India.
IPA President Krishna Prasad Acharya expressed confidence that the latest agreement would add a new dimension to Nepal-India electricity trade and further deepen the cordial relations between the two countries. Stating that the decision of the meeting has laid the groundwork for the export of Nepal's electricity to Bangladesh, IPAN expressed confidence that the decision would play an important role in the development of Nepal's energy sector in the days to come.
In addition to further encouraging investment in Nepal's energy sector, IPAN is of the view that the recent decision has laid a strong foundation for the construction of large projects, construction of transmission lines and inland energy trade. Welcoming the decision of the Energy Secretary level meeting of the two countries, IPA said in a statement issued today that it expects concrete progress in the energy sector.
