Education Minister informs House study is on over topic of missing TU answer scripts

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sumana Shrestha has said an investigation committee has been formed to look into the topic of the missing answer scripts of the examination conducted by Tribhuvan University (TU), and the committee is carrying out a study on this.

Minister Shrestha said so while responding to the queries lawmakers voiced during the Urgent, Zero and Special Hour of the House of Representatives. She informed the House that an investigation committee was also formed regarding the change in the exam schedule.

"Forty-five questions and comments related to the Ministry of Education have come up in the House of Representatives from March 14 - April 2. Investigation committees have been formed and they are carrying out study on the topic of the missing answer sheets and examination not taking place on schedule," she said on the occasion.

The Education Minister also shared that a taskforce has been constituted for a review of the criteria on teacher recruitment determined by the Teacher Service Commission. Study is on regarding the teacher license and the questions asked in the examination administered by the Commission, she added.

Minister Shrestha further said a committee comprising experts has been formed to conduct a study on what type of teachers have been teaching in the present age of science and technology.

Stating that discussions have been held with the Ministry of Home Affairs whether foreign students can be brought by opening additional medical colleges in Nepal, she stated that the foreign students coming to the country for higher study are classified into tourists and non-tourists.

The Minister stated that the process for calling tender has been forwarded for taking all works carried out by TU to the digital technology. Works have been forwarded to provide educational certificates, including the transcript, digitally.

Stressing on the need of increasing investment in education, she said the Ministry was doing home work to make the technical and vocational education more result-oriented.

According to her the Ministry is also carrying out a study on making the technical education free of cost and what can be done to connect people obtaining such education directly with the labour market.
