The first President of Nepal, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, visited the photo exhibition at National News Agency (RSS) on Thursday.
The photo exhibition organized on the occasion of the Republic Day began on May 25. The event concluded on Thursday.
Visiting the exhibition at RSS central office, the former President Dr Yadav lauded the RSS role in organizing the exhibition that has truly reflected the country's diversity in region and culture.
The show is named 'Our Culture: Our Heritage'.
"Such an event plays a constructive role to unite a society rich in diversity with the feeling of national unity," he observed, adding diverse cultures, religions and languages have brought Nepalis together, thereby building harmony and national unity.
"RSS has a special role to promote national cultures and languages. This exhibition has finely depicted national fabrics," he stressed, reminding the photos on Mithila, Gaura dance, Tharu culture, Newa tradition etc in the display.
He also suggested to the RSS that it become further active to protect and promote its professional integrity and national specificities.
Moreover, he viewed RSS as having a significant role to inform the public well with factual, credible and balanced news which are for the country and people.
On the occasion, the former President inspected different departments of RSS. He was briefed on RSS works and status by RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha, General Manager Siddha Raj Rai, DGM Shyam Prasad Rimal and Chief Administrator Shital Prasad Mahato, among others.
The exhibition inaugurated by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, concluded on Thursday.
The exhibition is the photo display representing all seven provinces.
Various political leaders, ministers and dignitaries visited the exhibition. Those visiting the exhibition ranged from Chairman of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timalsina to Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati.
Even the people interested in culture, literature, and mass communications visited the show.
