Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayankaji Shrestha inspected various Transport Management Offices in Kathmandu Valley yesterday.

The surprise visits were a part of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's commitment to creating an enabling environment for the citizens to avail public services efficiently and promptly.

It may be noted that PM Dahal, in the first meeting of the Council of Ministers, had also decided to make arrangements so that service-seekers may not feel the hassle to queue up longer for services including passports, and driving licenses among others.

Furthermore, one of the 30-point directives issued by PM Dahal today to the government ministries and their subordinate bodies is to make public service delivery prompt and efficient.

Complaints are rife that problems in many public offices remain the same despite the Head of the Government positively intervening in the matters of public service delivery since he assumed office.

DPM Shrestha, during the inspection today, instructed the Chiefs of Offices to work in the best interest of the public. "I have heard the complaints that the public suffered a lot while availing of services. They should not suffer anymore."

Furthermore, Shrestha directed to render services from those offices till 5 pm instead of 4 pm and cut short the tedious process of issuing the new driving license. "There's no compromise in providing quality services. Work abiding by the rules."

The DPM, following widespread complaints about all-pervasive middlemen in those offices, strictly instructed to end the meddling of middlemen. Also, he warned of stern action against employees for their wrongdoings.

Shrestha while inspecting the offices at Thulo Bharyang and Gurjudhara, also interacted with the service-seekers and locals and heeded their complaints.

DPM Shrestha was accompanied by Bagmati Province's Minister for Labour, Employment and Transport Ghanashyam Dahal, and secretary and joint-secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport among others.
