According to the Nepali embassy in the US, only the Money Order and Cashier's Check were stolen in the incident in Houston, Texas, USA, and the documents including the applications of the clients are safe in the Nepali Embassy. The embassy has informed all the concerned service users that the sensitive personal information contained in those applications and documents will not be leaked or misused.
The Embassy of Nepal in Washington conducted consular services in Dallas, Austin and Houston from 15 to 20 December 2022. On December 22, the embassy staff went from Houston to Washington D.C. along with the money orders and cashier's checks submitted by the service users for the fees in those camps. c. On the way, the vehicle parked in the parking lot was vandalized and looted. The embassy has immediately filed a complaint with the Houston Police Department and other agencies and is trying to recover the stolen money order and cashier's check.
