Special checking of the college students

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has conducted a traffic checking in the morning, targeting college students. During the checking, 61 people without driver's license, 39 people without vehicle registration and 10 rule violators were arrested.

Similarly, 118 violators including a person who drove without wearing a helmet and 10 people who violated other traffic rules were prosecuted.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajendra Prasad Bhatt, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, informed that among the riders involved in the action, each of them were two-wheeler drivers. According to the statistics of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office last year, there were 10,733 vehicle accidents in Kathmandu Valley.

Out of which, 8 thousand 364 of them were two wheeler vehicles.

While 191 people died in vehicle accidents, 117 people died in 2-wheeler accidents alone. Out of which 58 pedestrians also died in road accidents. Hencee, most of the deaths are two-wheeler users. According to the age group, two-wheeler users are mostly between 17 and 35 years old.
