One teenager died and five others were injured after a pickup truck smashed into a tree in Australia's Sydney on Saturday.
New South Wales Police Force reported in a statement that the vehicle was carrying six boys when it left the Cabbage Tree Road in Bayview, a suburb in Sydney's north, and hit a tree at about 12:20 a.m. local time.
Upon arrival, police found all the boys suffering injuries.
A short time before 10:47 a.m. local time, police were told that a 16-year-old boy in the front passenger seat had died.
The 17-year-old driver was airlifted to hospital, where he is now in a critical but stable condition. Four boys who were sitting in the back seat, including one aged 16 and three aged 17, are also remaining in hospital.
Having begun making inquiries about the incident, officers called for possible witnesses to provide related information or dashcam footage.
