Chief returning officer resigns as vote counting goes on

The chief returning officer and district judge of Udayapur, Dipak Khanal, resigned from the post of the chief returning officer as the vote counting of the local election is going on.

The office of the chief returning officer informed that chief returning officer Khanal resigned from the post, the reason being that he could not carry out his duty due to his health condition.

Khanal resigned from the post of chief returning officer at a time when vote counting of 98 polling centers was awaited and political parties were demanding re-election for Janapremi polling center of Triyuga Municipality-12 where 2,000 voters were deprived of voting rights due to the carelessness of voting officer on Friday.

Among eight local levels, vote counting is awaited in several places including Triyuga Municipality and Katari Municipality.
