The Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolis (JSM) has unveiled its policies and programmes focusing on various issues ranging from garbage management to environment conservation.
Presenting the policies and programmes for the fiscal year, 2080/81 at the 10th assembly of sub-metropolis here today, Mayor Manoj Kumar Saha underscored the need for responsible and accountable policy from ward level for garbage collection and management. He announced that ward levels would be given rights for the waste management.
Mayor Saha also declared to provide vehicle and human resources to each ward level for waste management. In the annual budget, additional grants of Rs 1 million will be provided to the wards which perform excellently to this regard. Even the technical assistance will be extended. Similarly, sanitation programmes would be launched across the province and in collaboration with other tiers of government. The sources of water would be ensured pollution free and water supply made scientific.
Other issues featured in the policies and programmes are environment and technology-friendly transport management, promotion of the use of electronic vehicles, development of Janakpur heritage root corridor, greenery and beautification schemes.
The federal government will be requested to announce JSM as the cultural capital of Nepal.
Moreover, Mayor Saha announced stray cattle management, promotion of commercial farming with modern agro tools and marketing, establishment of customs hiring centre, use of arable land, clear categorization of agricultural and non-agricultural land, award to best farmer, establishment of public-private partnership for promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship, operation of open park and tourism information centre, children with Deputy Mayor programme, preparation of development bank, scientific settlement.
He presented the estimated income of 2.28 billion for the coming fiscal year.
