The construction of the Kaligandaki Corridor transmission line has been successfully completed. The 220-kV double circuit transmission line is expected to contribute to improving the national electricity grid system.

The transmission line starts from the Dana substation at Annapurna rural municipality-3 in Myagdi and concludes at the New Butwal Substation at Sunwal in Nawalparasi.

For the construction of the 88-kilometer Kushma-New Butwal Transmission line with its location in Parbat, Baglung, Syangja, Palpa, Rupandehi and Nawalparasi, the contract was signed with Indian company L&T in 2017.

The estimated cost of the Kaligandaki Corridor Project is approximately Rs 11 billion and the project implemented by the government and the Nepal Electricity Authority is supported by the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) under the Asian Development Bank.

NEA managing director Kulman Ghising hoped that the operation of the transmission line will contribute to promoting the reliability of the integrated electrify supply system, addressing the voltage issues in Nawalparasi and Rupandehi areas.
