Police have arrested Kamal Shrestha, 48, of Pathari Shanischare Municipality-2 on Monday afternoon on charges of murdering his own 90-year-old mother Jagmaya Shrestha.
Jagmaya Shrestha had suddenly gone missing since January 26. Her son was arrested by the police from Pathari Area Police Office after receiving information that her body had been burnt after her murder.
Shrestha had registered a large amount of his father's land in the name of his wife without informing the mother and other brothers. When the others found out and sued him, the court decided that a portion of the land will remain with the mother. The incident had caused him to kill his own mother in anger. According to the State Police Office No. 1, Biratnagar, further investigation is underway into the incident.
