The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government and the bodies concerned to pay heed to the rights of migrant workers. Effective coordination is essential among responsible agencies on foreign employment management, NHRC reminded.

The workers ready to fly abroad for a job but made a return from the immigration office must be compensated, NHRC said, reminding the government to enforce the recommendations NHRC had furnished on migrant workers' rights in the past.

The national rights watch body issued a press release in the wake of that incident that 156 Nepalis were made to return from Tribhuvan International Airport by the Immigration Office there when they were about to fly for Kuwait and Jordan for employment along with a labour permit. It has violated the rights of the workers, NHRC stressed.

On July 9, the officials from Immigration Office had prohibited the workers from flying by claiming that they had suspicious documents.

Moreover, the responsible agencies engaged in accusing each other publicly. It showed their insensitivity to the rights of labour, according to a press release issued by Assistant Spokesperson of NHRC, Syam Babu Kafle.
