Press Council Nepal has shown concern over the bill designed to manage media in Lumbini Province. A team of Press Council Nepal led by its Chairperson Balkrishna Basnet visited the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province and showed the concern on Sunday.
Showing the discontent on some provisions in the bill, the Council urged the government to correct it before passage.
The Council argued that the bill registered at the Province Assembly by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law on behalf of the government prevents printing and publication. Similarly, it was alarmed by the provision of action to those violating the code of conduct.
On the occasion, Chief Minister KC viewed any law that is inconsistent with the federal law as cancelled. So, the federal government could facilitate province government in making laws, he added
