Utilize senior citizen's knowledge: President Bhandari

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said the senior citizens are the sources of knowledge and inspiration. Their knowledge and skills should be transferred to youth generation, she stressed.

Giving a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Second National Senior Citizens Day today, President Bhandari said as the knowledge, skills and experience of the senior citizens are gained over a long time, the young generation can learn a lot from them. Collective efforts from family, society and State are imperative for the knowledge transfer.

On this occasion, President Bhandari wished good health, longevity and dignified life to the senior people. She also reminded that distribution of social security allowance was begun since Poush 11, 2051BS. However, the decision to celebrate the National Senior Citizen's Day was made last year.

She underscored the need of effective coordination among all three layers of government to ensure dignified life of the elderly ones. The President called all concerned ones to enforce the government decision on discounts to the senior people on health service and transport.
