Water and Sanitation Bill passed

In today's meeting, the Gandaki Provincial Assembly has passed a bill to make arrangements for drinking water and sanitation in the Gandaki province. The proposal made by the Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Drinking Water of Gandaki Province Harisharan Acharya to pass the bill along with the report of the legislative committee was unanimously approved by the assembly.

Answering the questions raised on the bill earlier, Minister Acharya said that the bill has been introduced to manage drinking water and sanitation in the state. During the debate on the bill, Provincial Assembly member Meen Prasad Gurung said that drinking water and sanitation are important for human life and that it is indispensable for healthy citizens of prosperous provinces. He also added that the bill was made using the single right of the province.

Another member, Lalitkala Gurung, even said that, though the issue of clean drinking water, which is directly related to people's health, is very important, the bill has come late. It was discussed with the legislative committee. Stating that it is the government's responsibility to provide clean water to the people, he expressed his belief that the bill would be important.

Dilmaya Rokka Magar said the Gandaki Provincial Assembly will come up with a bill in five years and that this bill is important in itself, in which all subjects are included in the bill. At zero and special time of the meeting, members Prakashchandra Dawadi, Meenprasad Gurung, Junadevi Nepali, Indralal Sapkota drew the attention of the provincial assembly and the government to the current issues and the impact of the flood.
