The faction of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSPN) led by Federal Council chair Baburam Bhattarai and party chairperson Upendra Yadav has sent a letter to the party leaders close to another faction led by Mahantha Thakur seeking clarification from them within 24 hours.

The leaders were given 72 hours to submit the clarification on Tuesday, but when they failed to submit another letter were sent to them giving the ultimatum of 24 hours. The faction led by Yadav with the majority of members have sought clarification from Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato among other executive members Laxman Lal Karna, Sarbendranath Thakur.

It has been learnt that the letter dispatched by executive member Prakash Adhikari has issued a warning to expel them from the party if they fail to submit the clarification in the given time.

The 51-member executive committee of JSP-N has 30 members close to the Bhattarai-Yadav faction.

The party has been divided over joining the alliance and extending support for the formation of the government.

Though Yadav seemed to be in favour of joining the new government, Thakur was against the idea. Of the total 31 lawmakers, there are 20 parliamentarians on Thakur's side.
