Nepal and Turkey agree to expand trade and investment opportunities

Foreign Minister Dr. Narayan Khadka, who is currently in Antalya, Turkey, leading the Nepali delegation to participate in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, held bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu on Thursday.

On the occasion, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries reviewed important aspects of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation and agreed to further expand trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, Foreign Minister Khadka said. He expressed the belief that the ongoing conflict could be resolved in a sustainable manner. Foreign Minister Cavusoglu expressed his commitment to enhance the result-oriented partnership between Nepal and Turkey in the field of mutual benefit.

On Thursday, Foreign Minister Dr. Khadka met with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. On the occasion, he praised the Bahraini government for protecting Nepali migrant workers in Bahrain. The ministry also said that they had exchanged views on the expansion of economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts and promotion of tourism, especially in the field of mountaineering.

Earlier, the delegation led by Foreign Minister Khadka was welcomed by a group of Turkish entrepreneurs from various fields for discussion. In particular, Minister Khadka invited the Turkish business community to explore business opportunities in areas where they have invested in Nepal.

He is scheduled to address the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, which will be held from today till March 12. He will address two separate sessions on 'Democratic Governance and Security' and 'New Asia for Sustainable Regional Development' with the participation of foreign ministers and policy makers and experts from more than 50 countries. The forum will focus on existing regional and international issues and their solutions.

It is believed that the visit of the Foreign Minister on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Turkey will be fruitful in deepening the bilateral relations. The visit is also expected to contribute to the growth of bilateral trade, investment, tourism, foreign employment and people-to-people contacts.
