ICC Cricket World Cup: Nepal loses to Scotland

Nepal lost to Scotland in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 being held in Namibia on Sunday.

Scotland chased down the target of 138 runs set by Nepal at the United Cricket Club Ground in Windhoek in 32.1 overs at the loss of seven wickets.

Both teams struggled to bat in the low-scoring match. Although Nepal scored a few runs, they were able to take seven wickets for Scotland.

With this win, Scotland has climbed to the top of the table with 44 points from 30 matches, while remaining in the top three and almost securing a place in the global qualifiers of next year's ODI World Cup.

Oman, who have played all 36 matches in League 2, also have 44 points. But Scotland is at the top of the list with a good net run rate. Nepal is in sixth place with 18 points from 22 matches.

Scotland defeated Namibia in the first match and won the series for the second time in a row. Christopher Mabridz top-scored for Scotland with 43 runs. Brandon McMullen remained unbeaten on 32 runs. Michael Lisk scored 22 runs.

Sagar Dhakal, Gulshan Jha and Lalit Rajbanshi took two wickets each for Nepal. Dipendra Singh Airee took one wicket. Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal scored 137 runs losing all wickets in 40.1 overs. Gulshan Jha, batting at number eight for Nepal, top scored with 29 runs. He hit three fours and a six in his 29-ball innings.

Gyanendra Malla scored 25 runs, Arjun Saud scored 18 runs, Captain Rohit Poudel scored 17 runs and Arif Sheikh scored 10 runs. Others could not score in double digits.

Scotland's Chris Sol took three wickets and Mark Watt took two wickets. Brandon McMullen, Safan Sharif and Michael Lisk took one wicket each. Brandon McMullen, Safan Sharif and Michael Lisk took one wicket each.
