Andrea Pirlo has stepped down as the head coach of Juventus after just one season, the Bianconeri confirmed on Friday.
Former Juve player Pirlo was appointed as the head coach last summer, after Maurizio Sarri's dismissal.
In the season just ended, Juve finished fourth in Serie A and was eliminated in the last 16 of Champions League. Despite winning the Supercoppa and the Coppa Italia title, it was not enough for Pirlo to convince Juve's management.
"Thank you, Andrea. These are the first words that all of us need to say at the end of this special experience together," read a statement.
According to multiple Italian outlets, Massimiliano Allegri will make his return to Juve while Pirlo is in talks with another Serie A side Sassuolo.
