Old man dies after being attacked by a wild elephant

An old man of Mechinagar Municipality-13 has died this morning after being attacked by a wild elephant. The deceased has been identified as Khamba Singh Karki, 75, of Jhapa, according to the District Police Office.

He was seriously injured in the attack while chasing a wild elephant eating rice, maize, and potatoes on the veranda of his house at around 3 in the morning. Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Jhapa, Basanta Pathak informed that Karki succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Birta City Hospital, Birtamod.

Karki's house is near Ilam Road in Charali Bazaar. Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, 63, was killed by a wild elephant five days ago when he went to water a field in Damak.
