An all-party meeting is to take place this morning for vote counting of the by-election held in Chitwan 2 on Sunday.

The all-party meeting was set to take place last night after all polling boxes were transported to the vote-counting site.

Assistant Election Officer at the Office of Chief Returning Office Iswor Acharya informed that the all-party meet was called for 8.00 am this morning.

In a notice issued in this regard, the candidate or the representatives of the parties/candidates were invited to the meeting this morning.

Political parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, said the meeting could not take place in absence of the Chief District Officer. The vote count will begin only after the meeting.

NC Chitwan President Rajeswor Khanal said vote counting would not begin until they received a reply from the CDO whom he accused was protecting the Rastriya Swatantra Party candidate while breaching the election code of conduct.

As many as 78,277 voters had cast their votes in the by-election in Chitwan-2. ---
