Hari Dhakal of the National Independent Party has won in Chitwan 1. He defeated CPN (UML) leader and former finance minister Surendra Prasad Pandey by 7,581 votes.
Dhakal got 34,189 votes while Pandey got 26,608 votes. Vishwanath Paudel, the former vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, who became a candidate on behalf of the Nepali Congress, received 24,999 votes.
